Bill Anton (b. 1957) was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Loyola University in Chicago before transferring to Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. Influenced by an exhibition by the in Phoenix, Anton attended the and began working in the western genre, focusing on the working cowboy. His influences include Anders Zorn, Sorolla, Edgar Payne, and Frank Tenney Johnson. Anton prefers to work from field studies rather than photos because he believes field studies have more vitality. The Pearce Collection is proud to be the home for two Anton works, "Dusty Work" and "Silver Lining."
